Philips has published its third
annual sustainability report.
Based on its environmental
program ‘EcoVision’, the company
introduced 21 new Green Flagship
products to the market in 2004,
bringing the total number of
these products to more than one
hundred.

the appointment of Wong Ngit
Liong and James J. Schiro as

Board. It will also propose

continent, Europe’s educational
establishments, governments and
industries need to modernize,
Philips CEO Gerard Kleisterlee
said at a doctoral award
ceremony in Leuven. Belgium.
Pointing out that the idea of
entrepreneurship today is more
cherished by citizens of the USA
than those of Europe, he
observed that European behavior
could be best characterized as
an avoidance of risk.

Philips recorded net income of
EUR 498 million (EUR 0.39 per
share), compared with net income
of EUR 598 million (EUR 0.46 per
share) in the same period of
2003. Sales amounted to EUR
9,179 million, an increase of 2%
over the same period of 2003.
The weaker US dollar and
dollar-related currencies had a
downward effect of 4%.
Comparable sales increased by
6%.

Philips has announced the
appointment of Mr. Pierre-Jean
Sivignon as the Group’s new
Chief Financial Officer. He will
succeed Mr. Jan Hommen, who
will, as planned, leave the
company as of May 1, 2005 upon
reaching the statutory
retirement age of 62.

Philips unveiled its new
all-in-one PC writer at the
Consumer Electronics Show in Las
Vegas this month. The triple
laser optical pick-up unit can
read and write CDs, DVDs and the
next generation of optical
storage, Blu-ray (BD) discs. The
unit is scheduled to be
introduced in the second half of
2005.
